Malta Eco Contribution 2026

Rate Increase from 1 July 2026

The Malta Eco Contribution, which is a mandatory charge applied to eligible accommodation stays in Malta, will see an increase from €0.50 to €1.50 per night, capped at a maximum of €22.50 per person per visit.

This change will take effect on 1 July 2026. The contribution will continue to apply to the same accommodation categories and will be the sole responsibility of the property owner.

Compliance with the Eco-Contribution framework and reporting requirements is mandatory, and late submission of Eco-Contribution returns will incur penalties.
